Hi,

I d like to change the speakers in my original 66 super reverb. These are original cts alnico and i found them lifeless, not enough bottom end and sparkle.I was thinking about g10c but what do you think would be appropriate to have a big crunchy sound with lot of punch, high end definition, sparkle and big low end without being farty?I love philip sayce/srv kind of tone

Thank you

Vivien

Ahhh ... my all-time fav amp :-)

Personally ... after you sell your CTSs to me (I love em) ... I'd put in a quad of G10Cs ... which will make the amp about twice as loud and twice as "big" ... or a quad of Vet 10s will hold quite true to the original tone and volume ... but won't be "tired" sounding like the CTS probably are!  Or ... split the difference with two of each ... probably in x-pattern.

For the record, the '67 Super I gig with currently has one orig CTS, one Jensen P10, and a pair of G10cs ... and it really works; retains the organic goo of the original CTSs plus sounds big and doesn't "fart out"!
