Hello! I just received a new Splawn 4x12 cabinet. I am running this with my Splawn head, Bogner Shiva, PWE and Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier which has been modified to sound more Marshally. I am in a band that covers 90s music. Everything from Matthew Sweet to Radio Head to Counting Crows to Fuel to Metallica and Tool to Alice in Chains to Nirvana and STP and Pearl Jam.
My Bogner 212 has V30s and sounds great! My Stone Age 212 has Celestion G12K-100s and also rocks. I want this cab to be more Greenback flavored but with tight lows. I was thinking maybe some sort of mix of ET65, Reaper, Invader, etc. If possible, I prefer this cab to be light in weight....so light weight magnets ifpossible! :)
If possible I would like to keep my Lynchbacks in the cab so maybe Lynchbacks and ET65?
I already have two Celestion Lynchbacks so I was going to try and keep those and mix with WGS. The Lynchbacks are 50 watts, 97db with 35oz magnet.

Maybe mix in two Invaders or two ET-65s?

THANKS!

Hi Rich, sounds like a fun band. If you want "Greenback flavored but with tight lows", then you pretty much nailed it with ET65's & Invaders. If you want it to be a little more GB flavored then go ET65's & Green Berets. A little less, then go ET65's & Reapers.

Sorry ... I'm not familiar with them! Went to your link, but couldn't really tell much from that.
Thanks man, Although I like Greenbacks...my amps (Bogmer, Mesa, Splawn and PWE) seem to work well with V30s so I may go Retro30/ET65! :)

Hi Rich ... don't know if you've made a decision yet, just got your email & re-read this thread.
Since you originally stated:
"I want this cab to be more Greenback flavored but with tight lows. "
That is the exact description of Invaders over ET65's. If you wanted, you could just try the invaders first... over your Lynchbacks. If you don't like at all ... return them for the Ret 30's. If you like, but would still like a bit more warmth, add the ET 65's below.
Having said all that ... the Ret30's over ET65's is actually my fav. all-around combo ... very versatile.
Whatever you do ... post back & let us know the outcome :-)
