I just retired from woodworking and am about to take my first guitar lesson. I have put together some gear to start with: a G&L Tele, an Orange OR15 and a 2.45 SF 2x12 closed pine cab (25x17x10 ID).
I love the sound of baritone guitars and will be building one very soon. I also love the sound of the 55hz Reaper. They seem like they would be a good fit together.
My question is: If I combine a 55hz. Reaper with a ET65 what would the sound charicteristics be? I live in a very small cottage so high SPL's are not neccessary. Another combo I am curious about is using a Green B with a 55hz Reaper.
If I am not looking for high SPL's, would using two of the same speaker be of any benifit (Two Green B's for example). Would using two different style speakers not give me a more diverse sound ?
My last question is about the cabinet. I have built many sets of HIFI speakers where port and cabinet size are very important. Are they less important in guitar speaker cabinets? Could I hinge my cabinet back at the bottom and open it in various increments to experiment with "vent size" and it's effect on sound.
The Orange 2X12 closed back cabinet is killer.
Lots of good choices ... but if it were me, and I was never going to use the cab with a head above 50 watts ... I go with a pair of Green Berets.
