I'm currently working on custom build combo with a friend of mine.  It will have 80 Watts of SS power.  I will be playing clean 90% of the time.  I've had a good relationship for the past 30+ years with an EV Force speaker but it is a bit too much for this project.  I don't need that much power and I'm I wanting something lighter all around in both the amp and speaker department.  The properties I like about the EV is that it has a lot of definition with full yet tight low end.  When I pop the low E string, I can feel it.  I would welcome any suggestions that y'all have that may work for me.

Cheers

Sean

When I read the question ... I was all about the G15C (or A) ... but I see they are out of stock :-(

In a 12 ...  well ... you say "The properties I like about the EV is that it has a lot of definition with full yet tight low end.  When I pop the low E string, I can feel it." ... the problem is that generally isn't going to come from a light-weight speaker ... folks may CLAIM it with some Neos ... but it's just not there ... even the best Neos still sound sterile and harsh.

So ... let's think medium-weight magnet rather than heavy ... and in that department the ET65 is a clear winner ... but would be a bad idea in an amp with a "true" 80 watts RMS.  So, that would be the ET-90 ... but you're back to a heavy magnet ... although the speaker will still be a couple pounds lighter than the cast-frame EV.  I've got one of those old Force 12s, too ... and was surprised by how well it sounded ... given that it looks like something out of Star-Wars, Return of the Jeddi :-)

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much.  Indeed, from the clips I was able to hear, I think that is a good match.
