Hello, I recently acquired an old Sunn cab to go with my vintage Sunn amp. The problem is that the speakers are no good. I already had a g12k100 to go in the cab, so I put that in there. But I need another one, and I've heard so many great things about WGS, I wanted to give it a shot.

So here is the deal. The amp is a Sunn Sceptre. It is loud and evil sounding with lots of bass. I play primarily doom  and drone, so I need something that can handle the lower frequencies, and something that has really great low mids without farting out or getting super muddy. Any suggestions?

Note, this is not the only cab that I use (I'll probably pair it with a 2x12/1x15), but it is going to be my cab that I use in my studio, home, and small gigs.

Thanks!
Matt

Currently, I am liking the sounds clips of the Veteran 30 and the Reaper HP. Might this work with what I described above?

This is actually the exact same speaker combination that I run.  I have a Vet 30 and Reaper HP in two Emperor 1x12 cabs that I run an Orange TH30 through.  I play sludge/doom/post-metal, and the combination is amazing.  Sounds absolutely massive (like a volcano erupting).  Like your Sunn, my Orange has a ton of low end, and this combination can handle it with ease.  Highly recommended!

Just as an FYI though - steer clear of the Retro 30 with your set-up.  I originally intended to run the Retro 30 with the Reaper, but the Retro had just too much low end.  Farted out under high gain/volume.

Enjoy!
