I just ordered an uploaded custom 2x12 to use with my Mesa Rectifier 4x13 that is loaded with V30s. I play through a Sunn Model T reissue, and the music I play is downtuned "black metal". I really like the sound of my 4x12 with V30s but it's a touch too hairy sounding sometimes, and I think it'd be awesome to load the 2x12 with something that would smooth out my sound a bit. I want the low end to be a bit more pronounced without being flubby sounding. Which speaker between the ET-65 and the 90 do you think would work best? I'm thinking the 65 because I've heard it's more "natural sounding" than the 90, but I had celestion k80/100s recommended to me, and I used eminence tonkers in the last 2x12 I had stacked under my 4x12 and really liked the sound until they blew. That's why I wonder if a "higher power" speaker would produce the results I want.
Man .. I'd normally say ET65 ... but ... given your music style and that you've blown speakers before ... I'd say go ET90 FOR SURE ;-)
I've seen a few reviews that have describe the et90 as bright though? Would you describe it as that?
Owning both ET65 and ET90 I'd say ET90 for your style of music. I haven't done a comparison of ET65 and ET90 yet but here a comp of Veteran 30 and ET90 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_jSvY6udps&t=8s
No, certainly not! Not nearly as bright as say a Vintage 30.
