So I figured I'd ask for an opinion before I actually bought something.  I feel like I'm headed in the right direction, but...just to be safe.

So I've decided to build a 1x12 (closed back) to pair with my Orange Micro Terror.  I just need to find the right speaker.  Currently, I only run an Overdrive pedal (used mostly to boost

Originally, I looked at the Vintage 30 and G12K-100, but the price has been hard to swallow.  I saw a forum post about the Vetran 30 and started looking into it, but it sounded a little...muffled...like they lacked the punch I was looking for.  Now, I've never been great with tone descriptions, but I'll do my best.  I like a very clear, crisp, crunchy sound. I like the guitar to really sing out and be right there.  I don't want it to sound muffled or scooped.  Good strong mids and highs but with enough low end to round out the tone.

Well, I found the Vetran 30 vs Retro 30 demo on the WGS Youtube channel.  About a minute and a half in, he starts playing with some gain.  When it switched to that Retro 30, I got pretty excited.  It's like whatever was muffling the Vetran 30 was lifted away.

Unfortunately, most of the very high gain demos of WGS speakers seem to be only for the Vetran 30.  Will the Retro 30 handle high gain application and retain that clear, crisp sound I'm looking for? Is there a different speaker I should be looking at?

I'm glad to hear you say that!  I decided to just go for it and I should be recieving my Retro 30 today!  I hope to complete the cabinet this weekend.  I'm excited to hear how it sounds in person.
