I have a Fender Super Sonic 22 1x12 combo with a Celestion Vintage 30 and I'm going to add a closed-back 2x10 extension cabinet to sit below the combo. I want to use WGS speakers in the extension cabinent. I like the sound of the Vintage 30 so I'm looking for 10" speakers that will complement it. The amp is plenty bright already and I certainly don't want to make it brighter. Any recommendations? Thanks JDB
Actually ... the amp isn't all that bright ... but the V30 is!
So .... a pair of not so bright Brit flavored 10's ... would be 2 ET10s!
Thanks Vaughn for the quick response . . . After the cab is built I will report back!
I'm ordering the 2x10 cabinet now, with ET-10s . . . I assumed I would go with closed back, but do you have thoughts on how this pair would perform in a closed vs. open back cabinet? Again, it will be paired with a Super Sonic 22 combo with a Vintage 30. Thanks!
Closed would accent the open-back supersonic the best ... but ... all by itself, the 2x10 will really rock with a 1/3 open-back.
Update: I'm very pleased with the 2x10 extension cabinet I had built to match my Super Sonic 22. As recommended, the cabinet is loaded with WGS ET10s. I find the ET10s warm up the combo's Vintage 30 nicely and add bottom-end punch and depth, while maintaining a similar overall tonal character. Thanks for recommending the ET10s!
