Hi from Australia,

So I have a very nice looking deluxe reverb reissue limited ed. The stock speaker is a Jensen P12Q. So I actually really like the characteristics of this speaker, however, I'm looking for something with more clean headroom and tighter bottom end. Yes, the amp and speaker are bright, but I can control this with the tone on my guitars, although smoother/warmer/sweeter top end is always welcome! My overdrive when I use it comes from a Zvex Distortron which is a very nice JTM45 based sound, the P12Q could handle this better I feel. For me my playing style varies from finger picking jazz where I like warmth and sparkle, to very heavy handed blues rock (Led Zepp, Free etc), so I don't mind a bit of compression in there. So I've checked out the videos with the ET65, which to my ears sounded a little closed and nasal almost (as far as I can tell from the videos) - I've also tried putting the amp through a celestion greenback which I found to be rather lifeless and cold! So I'm thinking British voicing may not be what I'm after. The P21Q is honestly about 75% there in character, there's just room for improvement in performance where it can sound weak when turned-up, lacks headroom, and has baggy low-end (and not great with overdrive pedal).

Sorry if that was long-winded, but it's always hard trying to describe sounds and what you're after! So any suggestions please?

Much appreciated,

Ed

So just to add a bit more to this - from everything I've been listening to, the G12C or C/S, the ET90, and maybe the Reaper (I know I was saying perhaps no to British voicing, but they do seem good) could be options. The Blackhawk seems lovely too, but may be a smidge out of my budget for this! The guitars I play are fairly bright sounding vintage reissue Gibsons, which also carry a bit of beef, hence I don't want the bottom end to be too loose or undefined....

Thanks again folks.
