Hello everybody,

I'm writing this topic because I'm requiering your help for a choice of speaker. This is the case :

I've got a Vox Night Train G2 50W, actually in a 112 VHT Special 6 Cab. I'm pleased with the sound, but I'm pretty sure this is not the ideal match between amp & cab. I'm running a 112 cab most of the time, but I want to buy another 112 in the future to have more flexibility for some gig.

I'm searching for a WGS speaker that can match with the Vox sound of the Night Train, which can handle with the 50 watts and can be match in the future with another one, probably the same speaker. I play the most of the time crunch and distorted sound, especially rock, hard rock, punk and metal, but if it's possible, I would want to not sacrifice the tone on the clean side.

I've heard many tests and samples, I don't really like the trebbly "in your face" sound of the Veteran 30. In order of preferences, I like much the the green berret, which can't handle the power of the amp, the reaper and the ET65.

Can you help me in the choice of this speaker ?

Thank you very much

Finally my choice will be on a 212 cab which is more simple for the choice of speakers ans flexibility.

But i'm again between a Reaper ans ET65, even if I think, because of the amp is voiced to match with Celestion g12h30 anniversary that the Reaper is a good choice. The ET will maybe sound a bit scooped ans modern, even if it will ne more friendly with distorsion.

Another détail, is it more appropiate to use speakers in serial or in parrallel ? Thank you everyone

Man ... I think you will hit pay dirt with the Reaper ... but I'd go ahead and make them HP models ... I like the way they sound a little better, and you'll be able to use the cab with no fear of burning out the voice coil!

As for series/parallel ... https://wgs4.com/search/node/series%20parallel ... but the short answer is either, as long as your final load of the cab is what the amp wants to see!

OK so you think the Reaper bas the sound that I need ? I will look at the HP version like you recommand to me.

Thank you Vaughn !

Last question, saying it will be speakers for a regular 212 cab, why do you think the Reaper HP is more appropriate for a 50w amp ? The 60w of two regular Reapers is not enough (original cab for this amp is 60w too) ? Or is it for the sound of the HP version ?

Thank you very much !

I like the way they sound a little better, and you'll be able to use the cab with larger amps no fear of burning out the voice coil!
