10's for a Rectoverb 25?

I just tried a 2x10 cab through my Rectoverb 25 and it had  great cut through and articulation in my band context.  Blues Rock project  using a PRS Mcarty and of course the Recto.  Sometimes with that set up and my 1x12 Black Shadow, the bass and low endget a little muddy and lost in the mix.  

Is that a 10 vs 12 issue or a type of speaker?  I believe the 10's were a Weber Silver Bell and Blue Pup.   Either way, I really enjoyed being able to cut through the mix.

If it's just the type of 12, which 12 would you reccomend for a tight bass response?  

If the 10's will provide the more punch and articulation for the band setting, what would you reccomend?   

My gut is telling me it's time to explore more 10s.
