Hello, I put a 1961 Jensen P12N into my Tone King Imperial and got a BIG surprise. The harmonic ringing I had been experiencing when playing an open D string (due to Telecaster resonances), with either my Tone King 33 and WGS G12C ceramic speaker, was completely gone! I am thinking that it must be something about ceramic speakers that causes the telecaster resonance to be amplified whereas the Alnico doesn’t. Would you please provide your thoughts? Best Regards, Ed

Not sure about the Tone King 33 ... but as far as the G12C goes ... that's by far the harshest speaker in the WGS line-up ... not really a Tele-friendly speaker in my opinion ... unless your amp is VERY dark or you registered your Tele as a lethal weapon!  You would undoubtedly have had similar results to the P12N with an ET65.

AlNiCo is, however ... a bit sweeter on the top-end, especially when driven.

Thanks, Vaughn.

As an FYI I purchased the G12C based on a video you made a couple years back where you felt that it nailed the C12N when installed in a DRRI.  It did well in my DRRI but not so good in my Tone King Imperial.  Mark Bartel the designer / engineer for the Tone King Imperial feels that it is a "mid-range" issue and not a ceramic vs. alnico.

What WGS speaker would be best for my Tone King Imperial which is a dual channel amp with one being Blackface and the other Tweed to light Marshall.  Is there a trade in program avaialble?

Thanks,

Ed

Definately the ET65!  As far as trade-in goes ... not sure of the time limit ... email trevor@wgs4.com.
