The new G12C/S sounds interesting. How about doing a video 'head to head' with the G12C to make choosing between these two little easier? Please...... :)
I have 2 of them arriving on Thursday, though a video to preview them would have been nice. My expectation is that they'll tame the bite of my Mesa Boogie Stiletto Ace combo by adding an extension cab with the 2 smoothies.. The combo will be on top with its original speakers and the new cab below.
My two 16 ohm G12 Smoothies were there when I got home tonight. Went to Home Depot to get 8 #10-32 bolts and my son frontloaded the Smoothies into a Lopoline cab (bought the cab used and didn't have the bolts). We could have rear-loaded into the open back cab, but we added the adhesive backing that came with the speakers and front-loaded instead.
The recommendation is to go easy on the speakers for a bit, then gradually build up. So I started warming them up with a Blackstar 20 watt head. Real nice, and I know a drummer will be able to hear me real good. Next up this weekend, is to fire up the new cab with the Stiletto Ace combo and see what a 4 X 12 arrangement will do. I'm very happy with these Smoothies (I guess that's what they'll be known as now). More to follow when I record with them. Thanks Vaughn, Dan and everyone else at WGS!
