I've got a custom built JTM 45 style 2x12 combo that I'd like to upgrade the speakers in. I like the vintage G12M25 tone so I was thinking a pair of Green Berets would be cool. Although this amp is approx. 45 watts RMS it packs quite a punch and I like it cranked all the way up! Will a pair of GB's in the open back cab be able to handle the power or should I consider a pair of Invaders instead? Also which sounds better in an open back cab M type speakers like the GB or H type speakers like the Reaper? I go for a classic rock Les Paul tone Clapton/Cream, Peter Green, Jimmy Page, etc... Thanks!
Yea ... everything you mention just screams Green Beret/classic Greenback ... but your wattage concern is probably warranted ... it would be right on the edge for the GB's.
But ... that's EXACTLY why WGS designed the Invader, and man, they do sound almost spot-on with the GB's ... maybe just a (really) tiny bit less top end. So, I'd say go with Invaders for sure.
Thanks Vaughn! Your advice is appreciated. I was leaning towards the Invaders because I just wanna rock and not have to worry about cooking my speakers! Will be placing an order soon.
