First off, hello everyone from San Antonio!
Heard about WGS through a friend, and I'm glad I did!
So, I'm replacing the speakers in an older USA made Fender Hot Rod Deville 212. Done some tweaks to it, MM transformer and choke...sounds pretty good BUT I want to replace those speakers.
I've read about the ET65/Veteran 30 combination which sound real interesting. Vaughn, knowing what you know about this amp (wattage, open back, etc.) what is your reccomendation. Like to use the amp for all its sounds, i.e. nice cleans on the 'clean' channel, good rockin' overdrive on the 'dirty' channel...and with the mods it's had the 'dirty' channel has quite a bit of 'gitty-up', ;)
I'd really be interested to know your top 3 reccomendations, and thanks for having this q&a forum, such a great way for guys like me to be able to interact directly with the makers!
Thanks!
Neal
Hi Vaughn,
I just got an email from 'Daniel' and he recommended (2) ET65's, what do you think about that?
The pair of ET65's will warm the amp up a good bit ... which is generally a good thing with the Deville's. If you want to retain a more articulate top - my suggestion would be an ET65 and a G12, or Retro 30. Hope this helps! Let us know how it works out.
will do, thanks!
What about if you only use the clean channel and run high gain marshall style pedals through it. And play mostly hard rock and rock?
Think Alice in Chains and Led Zeppelin
