Hey Everyone,

I recently built a 1x12 speaker cabinet out of flame maple and put a Reaper in it.  It has amazing clarity in the highs, but it's really lacking in the low end.  Is this something that will improve over time as the speaker breaks in?  I also know 1x12s cabs don't do so great in the low end response.  Is there another WGS speaker that would provide more bass response in a 1x12?

I mostly play metal and the main amp running through it is a Baron Snott Watt.  I also use a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier.

Thanks!

Interesting- I find the Reaper 30 has great low-end bass response. It may not be as tight as you'd like but for blues and classic rock it is fantastic. I've run several speakers in a couple of different cabs/combos and the Reaper always seemed to have the fullest and most resonant low-end at low to medium volumes. At higher volumes and playing metal, maybe you need something tighter and that will really punch out the lows solidly at high volume, but yeah, I love the Reaper for its full low end and sparkly crisp highs, but I definitely wouldn't call it a great speaker for metal, particulairly only one in a 1x12. Not sure what would be best though. Maybe ET90?

And yes, give it a little time and as it breaks in the low-end should fill out more. But still, maybe not in the way you'd want for metal.
