Hi All,

Im looking for a pairing with the WGS G12C in an open back 2x12 cab.  Currently using a 2x12 cab with an ET65 and a Vet30, which I will keep.  Hoping to find a pairing for the G12C in an additional 2x12 cab to augment my existing cab, and - at times - use either cabinet as a stand alone depending on which tone/speakers i want at the time.

At this point, I mainly play classic rock/blues style.  But have recently been involved in some "new" country and progressive jazz projects also.  Guitars include strats, teles, PRS custom, and Les Pauls. Amp is an Egnater Tweaker 88.

I love the tone of the G12C on the demo videos, looking for a somewhat bright sound with the new cab since the Tweaker 88 (with KT-88's) seems somewhat on the dark side.  Any advice or experience with the G12C pairing would be greatly appreciated.  Originally planned on pairing with an ET65, which I would assume would add some low end to this pair.  But, hoping to find a rather bright sound compared to my existing cab with the ET65 and Vet30.

Thanks

The G12C happens to be my very favorite speaker. I've loved just about everything from WGS and believe me I've tried speakers from just about every manufacturer.

That being said I really think you should consider a G12C & Retro 30 pairing. Both are bright but not harsh speakers. I was always a guy that liked darker speakers because I couldn't stand harsh high end. Over time I realized it wasn't the high end that was bothering me as much as the upper midrange - which is what I found hard to deal with in Celestion speakers.

That's why I like the G12C & Retro 30 so much. Nice high end for shimmering clean tones & brightness but never harsh. I plan on building a cabinet with both of them in the future. Right now I have each in oversized 1x12s and run them together. Great combo for a wide range of tones.
