I recently acquired a mid-80’s Marshall Lead 12 (5005) combo. I’m looking to upgrade the stock Celestion (it’s not terrible, but not great either).
Has anyone tried a Green Beret 10 in one of these? I’ve read a few places that the GB sounds great in closed back cabs, but I’ve seen mixed reviews about them in open backs.
If the GB isn’t a great option, what other 10” options would work and still keep that classic Marshall sound?
I asked about upgrade the stock speakers in my Marshall Lead 12 (3005) cabinets.
And the advice was: Green Beret 10.
"My first choice for this setup would easily be the Green Beret 10. Being a much more robustly built speaker, the Green Beret 10 will give a better, more punchy low end response than the G10D-25s. You can also expect a nice full low mid response with a touch of growl, and sweet highs.":

I think this advice is good for you too.
