I noticed a post about replacement speakers for a JC-90 where G10's were recommended. I was curious if ET-10's might be a viable option or if their tonal characteristics might note be good match for this amp. I'm replacing the speakers in my JC-77, which is also an 80 watt 2x10, and don't want the tone to be too dark. Thanks for any help.

" ... don't want the tone to be too dark."

Man, given this ... I's stick with the G10C!

I am looking for the total opposite. In quest for a dark tone and spatial highs. My thoughts were building a 2x12 closed-back cabinet. I need help getting pointed in the right direction. Any suggestions and knowledge would be awesome thank you in advance!

"Spatial" is a description of imaging rather than high end shape, extension or power. In any case, it sounds like you want at least one ET65 in your 2x12" cab. The ~4.7kHz dip gives it a darker sort of sound without loosing as much high end detail as something like a G12M Anniversary. Many speakers work well with it. Leaving the cab rear ~1/3 open on top will allow for a more spatial sound depending on the room.

Thank you for the reply and sharing your knowledge. Right now it is completely open in the back. I had thought of completely closing the back. Leaving a 1/3 Gap sounds exactly what I've been looking for in this spatial area. I prefer the response from closed-back amps. Speakers and amps are still new to me even though I have been playing 20 years. A yard sale find of a 4-12 cabinet with celestions and jaguar speaker combination made me start digging deeper for knowledge I don't know what it is, haven't put my finger on it yet , but this amp doesn't seem to be alive. I know it's there just can't tap into it. Maybe it's the 2 10 inch speakers. I normally play through 12s. Is there a way to use 12 inch speakers in substitution maybe in a separate cabinet?
