A question for Vaughn if he happens to grab hold of this one. I have a 1965A. Vaughn i think you might have the bottom cab, a B. So your very familiar with the cabinet! Perfect! I play a 25 watt EL84 powered Mesa. I need a stellar clean which i use alot, and a nice crunchy overdrive. Not super high gain at all. Really nice cleans, blues and classic rock. Thats me to a tee. I dont want to make the cab too heavy and im getting rid of a 300 watt quad with 12s because of weight and volume issues. The original celestions are nice but im after an improvement. What ya reckon? Vets? Thanks in advance. James.

Gotcha ... and yea, I have a 1965B.

Sooo ... I was all ready to jump all over a quad of G10C's ... untill I read "of weight and volume issues" ... those would be LOUD and fairly heavy !

So, man a quad of good old Vet 10s! They will sound GREAT in a closed-back 4x10 ... and they are very light ... SCORE!!

Brilliant. Now im also lucky enough to have two of these cabs. For number two rig i would like to leave the cab as it is. So the original G10 L35s. However im planning to put a 1 x 12 open back cab UNDER the 1965 to really fill out the sound. I have an ET90 in a cab, which i adore by the way, but when i put the two together the ET90 is waaay out in front. I mean by a mile! I need something with a lower SPL. The original celestions are only 95db i believe. Anything come to mind? Thanks in advance. Love your work!!
