What would be the difference in tone between four Retro 30's in a 4x12 and two ET65's and two Retro 30's in an X pattern?
These will be going into an old Peavey cab that seems a little bassy no matter what speaker I put in, so a brighter speaker does help. Also, I have two Retro 30's.
I had Vet30/ET-65 in X pattern. I play low volumes. It sounded waay too topsy-turvy to my likes. I was really unhappy until I put ET-65s on top.
Now it blends for a perfect tone. It's not one speaker fighting against the other, either. It's ONE BIG FULL FAT SOUND.
But that's just me. It was my first.
