Just a suggestion that IMO the industry could use an affordable JBL D130 replacement. I've been looking for a speaker for an Ampeg B15N and a JBL D130 has been recommended by several for fitment and sound but the price they command is through the roof.

Hi Carl, I agree.  Not sure what the technical reasons are, but you can't even get a decent re-cone kit for a D-130 anymore!!

As far as making a D130 replacement goes ... with a HUGE amount of AlNiCo and a cast basket, I'm sure it would be a VERY expensive speaker ... and since 15's just ain't as popular as 12's ... it's probably not financially feasible.  We can always hope, though!

If you want a current production speaker that's CLOSE to the sonic signature and specs of the JBL D130F, go with the WGS G15A ... it's just as efficient and employs the same amount of Alnico as a D130F ... so it is expensive ... but not nearly as expensive as a mint D130F!!

Yes, I second the motion.  I'm curently hording D130's because I know when they are gone, they're gone!  The prices good ones are going for on ebay is astronomical.

Vaughn,

From what I can tell, visually, the D130 has a much, much larger magnet than the G15A. How does it employ the same amount of alnico?
