I'd like to keep my 4x12 1960a cab but would like to remove 2 of the g12t-75 speakers.Which 2 of your brand would best compliment these 2 and has anyone already done this with any success?
I have your veteran 30's and G12h-30's but I'm not getting enough. The cab seem to loose focus. Trace from Voodoo said I should get your 75's but you recommend the 65's. I play Classic, Alternative and Hardrock with a Randall RM100 head. Fender cleans and Marshall type high gain with a touch of Plexi.
Hi there...I'm hijacking this thread since I have the same question, 1960a cab, Egnater Yweaker 40 head. Classic rock and blues. Les Paul and Tele. Can only afford two speakers to mix with the GT-75's, What would you recommend? Thanks , Steve
This one requires a little consideration. With the Tweaker, power handling is totally not a factor at all ... if anything, those GT75's are suffering from a little stiffness with the lower power head. The predominate voice of the GT75's is pretty harsh and brash, but in that (very good sounding) big Marshall box, they sound quite good ... the box itself greatly contributing to the low end. Sooo ... then there is the tele/LesPaul factor ... such total opposites! But... here we go!
If you want the cab to stay very strongly Marshall voiced, and add in some articulation that the GT75's don't have ... then go with a pair of Green Berets.
If you want to make the cab as versatile as possible, adding a nice smooth high end and bigger bottom, then add a pair of Retro 30's.
If you want to quite decisively smooth out the harshness of the GT75's and make the cab much warmer and smooth, then add a pair of ET65's.
Let me know whatcha decide ... and the results :-)
Installed the Green Beret's. Sounds awesome. However, I'm going to sell the 4x12 and replace with a 2x12. It's just too damn big for what I need. I may need a couple of speakers for the 2 x 12. Thanks
Hey Jim,
What's your head and tone/style target?

Yea ... add the HM75's to the Vet 30's ... If that doesn't get the "focus" you are looking for, go all HM75's.
Thank you
