I am getting the itch to build a Blackface Bassman. I would like the the speaker cabinet to be great for guitar but also be acceptable for the bass side of the equation. I'm not sure what original speakers Fender used. What would be your recommendations?
Original? Go with a pair of G12C ... or one G12C/S and one G12C
My suggestion for a PERFECT tone with that amp (What I use with my personal 65 BF Bassman):
A pair of Reapers :-)
Thanks,
I picked up a pair of Reaper 55's last fall. Now your telling me I have to buy more speakers? Oh, well, I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet. Will they make a bass player smile?
I am developing an appreciation for the G12C/S. That reminds me, I should do a "tone" report!
Ooooo .... well then ....
In my personal 65 Bassman with the original piggy-back small-box 2x12 (which I've made 1/3 open-back) I have a Reaper and a Reaper 55 ... and YES (!!!) that is a beautiful combination.
By all means, go for that!
Also, if you ARE going to be using the ol gal for her intended purpose (bass) and keeping the cab sealed-back, I do believe you would be VERY happy with the Reaper 55 pair in there! So, yeah, ya did great!
Post back with your results!
