Hi there!
I play a fender 20w "black face" style amp (FX Amp. Dr.B).
For know, I plug it into an open cabinet (disassembled ORANGE R30C) mounted with a Celestion G12M65 "Creamback". I love this configuration and the Creamback has a very balanced response.
I dug up a closed 4x12" Hiwatt empty cabinet. I haven't money to buy 4 speakers... and I just need 2! It's enough for rehearse...
Is it a good idea? I mean just 2 speakers in a 4x12"?
And then, what couple of speakers?
I play fusion/rock, and use a sparkling clean sound with fuzz (FF, Muff), distortion, overdrive, wah pedals... From Gilmour to Hendrix, via Jack White and Tom Morello etc.
I'm looking for a nice rafined sound that receive well distortions ; not clinical but not too much character ; mids but just enough to add "balls" to distorded sounds.
Reaper?
Liberator?
Why not G12C/S?
ET65? I find this one a little too sober...
Thanks a lot!

Dude, I would certainly think a pair of Green Berets would be the thing. I've heard lots of folks say they love the "huge" sound of a 4x12 with 2 of the holes empty (and serving as big front ports) ... but I've never tried it myself!
Thank you Vaughn for your advice!
I have to think about this...
I'll give you feedback if I give a try.

I just receive a 2x12" open cab equiped with a Reaper 30W and an ET65.
Sounds awesome!!!
The Reaper sounds amazing but lacks some low-end. This is fixed with the ET65. But I have to admit, I'm not really convinced by the ET65 alone, especially with ODs fuzzes or distortions.
But the pair Reaper/ET65 = :)
Now, I have to choose a speaker pair for my 4x12", as wrote before.
I'm thinking about Reaper+Reaper55Hz.
What do you think?
Thanks!
I found that an ET65 comes alive in a ported rear panel, and that the reaper sounded better in a closed back panel cab, together threw my modded Shaw audio retro mod 15 it is a sound hard to beat! duncan antiquities,Mark 4:23 boost pedal,Wampler Tremelo great set up! but i must be crazy, but i really like the Et65 tone when being pushed better!
