Dear Vaughn. whats.up? Love your detailed show/ video's etc. I have this gene leis mode 910 1 × 10 combo modelled after a champ . 1- 12ax7, 1 6v6, 1-6ax5 rec. With a vet 10 spot. Sounds good but only having volume and tone when I turn the tone past 12 it gets a little bit too thin and ratty mids. price not being an issue,. would you recommend the G10a., G10c or the G10cs.

reeling in the Years Allman Brothers and Santana tone I'm looking for..

Ty so.much! Love ya

Okay. The Fender Champ circuit is VERY basic, and was taken directly from a RCA tube handbook ... this is basically a simple single-ended 1940's era circuit! And so "a little bit too thin and ratty mids" is always going to be a part of the tone of a pushed Champ! However, the best speaker to counteract this would be the G10C (or Alnicio ... but no real benefit here as they are 75-watt speakers).
Those are great little honest tube amps, but they don't overdrive in a kind way!
