Has anybody tried the combination of an HM75 with an ET65 in a 2-12 cabinet?
It may seem counter-intuitive, but from the few demos that I have seen, the HM75 would add more bottom and a chimey top to the ET65, making it a versatile cab. The sensitivity spec looks pretty close, but that can be deceiving. Any thoughts?
Man ... I'm just not a fan of the HM 75 EXCEPT for extreme drop-tuning, overdrive and extreme high-power situations! It would detract from the ET65... IMHO
I was going to try the lighter and cheaper HM75 first until i was ordering cat food online at Walmart and did a search for WGS on a whim. There they were...Retro 30s for $69 + free shipping. I scarfed one up and it came in today. I just got done damping my Mojo 2x12 bassman cab with 1" foam throughout (except the baffle) and installed it with the ET65. I like it! There's warmth again! I will have to make a lot of adjustments, including my back, because they are replacing a pair of discontinued Celestion G12 Century 80W neos (not the vintage). Both neos weigh less than one R30, but the top end was just too ice picky. To make a long story short, I get to use the treble control and EQ over 2K again!
I realize that the magnet has more to do with the tone than the power, but may I suggest a 60W R30 that only weighs 7.5lbs, if possible?
In the previous reply, what I was thinking of for a new speaker was a 65W, 7.5lb speaker that sounds close to the R30 or V30, but designed specifically to complement the ET65.
