HelloI have 4 ET65 speakers , each 65 watt , great for my old marshall .now i want to use it with an 200 watt Hiwatt Amp KT88 tubes 4x .Can i crank it up ,without damageing the speakers ?Best, Johann
Is is one of the new HiWatt's??? I saw them at NAMM this Summer ... WOW!!! Just as meticulous as the originals ... maybe even more so.
At any rate, with most any other amps I'd say 4 ET65's can handle 200 true RMS tube watts with room to spare ... but the HiWatts are FAMOUS for their under-rating the power. Most folks consider a 100-watt HiWatt to actually be more like 140 true watts!
So... ya might wanna be a lil careful! In the shootouts I did with with my beloved vintage Fane (ala HiWatt), I found the ET65 to be very similar ... so a REAL good choice to mate with the HiWatts. So, my recommendation would be to consider switching to the new ET-90's just to be on the safe side (at least ifyou ever actually open that beast up and let her breath fire on occasion).

Vaughn, would you reckon that 2 x ET65's are safe enough to handle a cranked 150w solid state combo amp?
Or should I opt for something more heavy duty perhaps, like say a Liberator or ET90 ?
Cheers!
Yea, should be just fine.
