I currently play a D-Style amp through a 1x12 open back cabinet.

I have tried both the Retro 30 and the ET65 in the cabinet, liked them both, but settled on the ET65.

I liked the Retros top end sparkle and the speaker made the clean channel come alive, and was a little nicer for low drive blues.

The ET65 is smoother and makes the drive channel sound sweet with controlled highs and a nice woody tone.

What I would like to know is if there is any speaker that would kind of bring the best of these two speaker together?

I know a 2x12 mixed would do it, but this is a portable 1x12 setup.

First, great job on describing the ET65 & Ret 30!

The two speakers that are somewhat a mix of those two would be ...

The Liberator: based on the ET65, this is quite similar, with a little more urgent upper mids and top.

The Invader: Sounds a LOT like a ET65, but with quite a bit more urgent mids & top ... but not as much extended top as the Ret 30.

Please come back here & post your results!

Liberator and Invader, similar to ET65...What do you reccomend for a rock/upgrade to my Hot Rod Deluxe (now with the ET65)?

Rock?? ... probably the Invader ... it'll be louder and have more urgent midrange than the 65
