Have a new Dr. Z Maz 18 NR head and a Dr. Z 1x12 convertible cabinet which currently houses a Celestion G12-65.  Love the speaker but not for this particular head. The bass seems to overtake the sound of this Maz 18 and it lacks a bit a sparkle.  Dr. Z usually puts a 12H-30 in those as a "stock" speaker so I'm curious which of the WGS speakers would fall into that categoy or if there are others that anyone especially likes for this setup.  This head will be used more for country and rootsy music with a Tele and a Strat and with pedals.  Thanks for your help!

Nice little amp!

Our Reaper (30w) is similar to the Celestion G12H30 (Britt made Heritage).  So, that would be a good choice.

If you want to really open up the top end, a Retro 30.

Hope this helps ... please post back w/your results!

There seems to be lots of people that really like the black and blue or the blackhawk.  Both are alnico's so they are more expensive but they sound great.  Especially in the Maz.

Yes ... the B&B & Blackhawk would both be excellent.  The B&B would provide a little more sparkle & Chime ... and the Blackhawk would have a little more solid bottom end.

Would you recommend the Retro 30 over the Veteran 30 for the Maz 18 NR 1x12 Combo?
