Hi Guys:

I am looking for the best alnico to put in my Valpreaux. I tried a Celestion Blue and it sounded really good, but might have been a bit light on bass. I have it narrowed down to a Black&Blue or a Blackhawk.

First, I am wondering if the Black&Blue might be in any danger with an 18w amp. I do like using a boost or two! ;) Second, I'm wondering if the Blackhawk will fit.

Which ever one I choose will be going directly to Richard. I appreciate any suggestions or advice. I will search Vaughn's comparison videos, as well.

Thanks,

- John.

Sorry ... I thought I answered this one right away ... anyway, definitely go with the Blackhawk!  Sounds like the BnB, only with a little more bottom and no danger of overpowering it!

I went Blackhawk and it's due to be here (loaded in my amp) tomorrow. I am Psyched!!! :)

How is the break-in time with these? My Celestion Blue took a little while to settle in, and this can handle a lot more power. I'm hoping for smooth right out of the gate.

Okay, this is like Christmas... Seriously!!

Thanks Guys! :)

My experience is that they sound great right out of the box... but they do loosen up and sound even better after some good solid play time ... probably reaching fully broken-in after about 8-20 hrs of play time (depending on your volume & style).
