Hi All,

I play in a rock covers band and we play music form quite a few eras from Led Zep through to Muse. I currently rehearse using G12T-75s and although they sound ok at band level they sounds like crap at low volume. They also have quite an annoying sizzle on the topend which usually forces me to turn the presence or treble down and then I start falling back in the mix.

I've also used engl cabs with V30s and Marshall 4x12 with either v30s or G12Ms and was not a huge fan of either.

After researching this site I'm thinking about picking up a couple of HM75s any maybe a couple of Retro 30s to test out both by themselves and as a mix in the 2x12.

Does anyone have any experiences of this combo? Would these two speakers complemet each other? Would they work for classic rock tones through to modern rock/metal brutalz?

Cheers

Spence

What's your amp?

I'm using an Axefx 2 into a Matrix poweramp so I have access to a load of models. That said I usually go for a fender deluxe for cleans, ac30/plexi/jcm800 for crunch through to soldano/dual rectifier/peavey 6505 for heavy stuff. I guess that probably didn't help much :-)

I run it at 100w rms into 8ohms.

Now I have all the clues I need!

My #1 suggestion for you is either 2 Invaders, or an HM75 and an Invader in the 2x12.

Given the "annoying sizzle" you didn't like with the Stock speakers ... I think the top end in the Retro 30's might be a bit too aggressive for you!

Whatever you choose, please come back here & post your results :-)
