Hey Vaughn,

I know you have made the nice 55 min. video about the Deluxe Reverb but I still have a question about choosing the right speaker for my 1976 deluxe reverb.

I am choosing between the ET65 and the new light G12Q that has been released in 2013.

The amp will be used at home but also from time to time in the rehearsal room and small gigs. Do you think that the 20 watts of the light G12Q will be able to hold up with the Deluxe's power? In the blog you only played the speakers clean but i am interested in the caracteristics of both speakers when the volume dial is around 7. Which one will be the better choice?

I saw the newer vid's of the HRDX and the Super Sonic 22 in high quality, maybe an idea for an updated video for the Deluxe Reverb? :)

Thanks!

Definitely go ET65!

The light 12 sounds AMAZING at low to mid volumes ... but will begin to fall apart at higher volumes ... and ultimately the voice coil will burn ...

Thanks Vaughn.

I ordered an ET65. I will post the results on the forum compared to the original oxford that is in there now.

Hello,

I wanted to post that i received the ET65 and have put it in my Deluxe Reverb. I must say that the speaker is a nice upgrade above the stock Oxford speaker that was in there. It needs some knob readjustement because this speaker is warmer than the stock speaker. The highs are still present and sound good, the midrange is much thicker so that needs some getting used to. The speaker will thicken things up and the low end is tighter, although i think that the amp itself has the caracteristics to flab a bit on the low end when pushed. However with my '74 SG, the thing now sounds really nice with the volume around 6. Sounds almost as good as my Super Reverb, only with less volume which can be a good thing.

The icepick is removed pretty good. The spikey highs are gone for 80%. But still a deluxe reverb is a BRIGHT amp. Thought i'd share with u people who are considering this speaker. With a little bit more breaking in and knob tweaking, this is going to be a really nice amp!
