New WGS C12C/S Speaker in Over-Sized Blues Jr Cab

I have a Fender Blues Jr III and had Nerby Custom Speaker Cabnets build me an over-sized cab 22 1/2" w 11" D & 18 3/4" T the cab is awsome quality. I talked with Danial at WGS about the right speaker for my needs I wanted the Fender clean tone but wanted to tame the ice picky tone of the Blues Jr III, Danial suggested the WGS C12C/S speaker for my needs. The C12C/S speaker along with the Nerby over- sized cab and all is bliss now with the Fender Blues Jr III amp. The tone of the WGS C12C/S speaker is what I was looking for to maintain the Fender tone and tame the ice picky highs of the Blues Jr III amp. Both the over-sized cab and the WGS speaker are the way to go with a Fender Blues Jr III amp. Nice full rich Fender tone all the way now without the Ice pick highs. Thanks WGS, Great Speaker And You Got To Love That Slightly Purple Smooth Cone On The C12C/S Speaker..Bill G
Hi Bill, thanks for taking the time to post your results here ... where we ALL can benefit from the knowledge :-)
I've always maintained that the problem with the Blues Jr & Pro Jr is mostly that they have cheap speakers in boxes that are just too darn small to be physically capable of sounding good.
Yes, the WGS smooth-cones are unlike anything else out there ... oh, except for those orange frame Fender's of days gone by ...
Thanks Vaughn,I agree 100% with you. The best thing I ever did was install a larger cab on the Blues Jr and a good speaker like the WGS C12C/S ( also a set of JJ tubes make a nice diffrence. What a diffrence all this makes. All I can say is anyone that's on the fence about doing this to there Blues Jr just go ahead and do it, you will have no regrets. It makes a good little 15 watt tube amp into a great little 15 watt tube amp. It cost about $325.00 to $400.00 to do the Cab and speaker upgrades depending on speaker choice and your custom cab cost. All this can make a Blues Jr a little costly but it is well worth it in the end.Bill G
