I am looking to upgrade my current speaker, a nolatone june bug, but I am not sure which speaker will work best.

My amp is a 5 watt tweed type amp that can get very loud with its c10q.  Open back design and It can take a 12" thanks to a baffle. 

I play single coils exclusively.

It has 2 channels:

Clean (mild) - which is a beefed up Princeton tweed type channel.  Sounds great.

High gain (Wild) - adds 2 gain stages to go into the heavy gain area.  

I mostly use the mild channel, but I like both.

Options I am considering:

Keep the c10q, it is broken in and it sounds good.

Black and blue - I hear they go well with low watt tweeds (leaning this way), not sure it can handle high gain though.

Reaper - should handle the high gain well. Not sure if the top end will be as nice

G10A or G12A 

Any other suggestions?

Will either of these kill the "tweed tone" I get?

I'm looking for a classic rock tone.  I like chime and growl, so kind of looking for a versatile speaker.

I like the current speaker, but I am interested in a speaker that brings more to the table than the c10q it has now.

The c10q is loud enough as I use the amp for home use only, louder is ok, but I'd prefer not to go quieter.

Just really curious about alnico and over drive.   The high gain channel makes me a little nervous that the alnico would gentoo fizzy though.

Not sure why you feel "high gain channel makes me a little nervous that the alnico would gentoo fizzy" ...

Good Alnico is all about beautiful high's when driven!  And for this reason, I'd recommend the Blackhawk Alnico under two conditions: 1) it can physically fit, and 2) you can afford it!

I recommend this over the B&B because I just like it better in almost every instance ... AND because you can put it into any amp you may want to later ... up to 50-watts (tube) RMS!
