The smooth-cone G12 would add a fair amount of early 50's "tweed-like" woody warmth ... so ... if that's what you are going for, then adding it in the mix would be a very good thing :-)
By itself, the G12 (regular ribbed cone) is voiced more like a mid 60's Jensen ... which is the classic Blackface Fender chimey tone.
