Bonjour Folks!

I am wandering if the G12A is made with a smooth cone? Must be a G12A/S? And if, how is the sonic difference compared to the standart G12A? And what is the efficiency in db for the soft cone? Does it have a thight low end? And what about the upper-mid?

Thanks..... JOSP

I believe the G12A/S is a special order item ...

The smooth cones are quite a lot warmer than the ribbed cones and ... even though the speaker is just as efficient ... they usually sound quieter due to the subdued top end.  Yes, the smooth cones do have a very solid/tight bottom end also ... and a very subdued and warm upper midrange.

Hope this helps.  Check out my blog with my Deluxe reverb to see a G12C/S in comparison to a bunch of others.
