Hey there,

I have the 5:50 Express combo, and the amp is extremely versatile, but I find the "black shadow" speaker they have in there to be incredibly fizzy. Just a very harsh and gritty sound, not to my liking. I would like to dive more into the realm of smooth lead tones, like the Eric Johnson violin sound, or Shawn Lane's ribbon-like smooth sound. I need a speaker that can smooth out the harshness. What speaker would you guys recommend that would pair well (and safely! I dont know jack-squat about wattages!) with the amp? Thanks!

Do a search using the search box in the upper left ... but My #1 pick would be the ET90 ... probably followed by the Reaper HP.  Also ... see: https://wgs4.com/reaper-hp-review   or: http://wgs4.com/reaper-hp-50

And it goes on & on ... lotsa love for the Reaper HP in the Mesa camp!
