Hi,
I have a Lopoline 2x12 convertible back, front loaded (may convert it to rear loaded soon)
Looking for a pair of speakers that best suit open back cabs.
I use mainly LP's and Teles, sometimes a Strat or 335 though,
styles range from 60's blues rock (Hendrix, Cream, Led Zep) to 90's rock (RHCP, FNM, Soundgarden),
I like a vintage tone, but looking to have a nice punchy sound.
Running either a JTM45 or 18w or 5e3 clone.
I have a Marshall 1966a cab (2x12 angled) that currently runs an Invader and Reaper, looing for something a little different to that but not modern sounding.
Hope you can assist!
Thanks,
Brad
Hi Brad, this has been covered extensively already ... search my blog as well as this forum :-)
Hi Vaughn, I have searched extensively, I looked at every thread, you give a different opinion each time! Your favorite combo is the retro 30 and et65, I'm not sure that combo suits my need for a vintage tone, as neither of those style of speakers existed pre 1980! Nor do you specifically state that any of your combos work well in open back cabs. So if you could take the time to suggest 2 speakers that complement each other in an open back setup I would be very appreciative. Thanks, Brad
Okay ... well ... go 1 Reaper & 1 ET65 ... both excel in open/semi-open back configs ... and together they make sweet love right on out in the open (back) ...
Post back w/ your results! Oh, and both are voiced firmly in the "vintage" family...
Yeah Vaughn, and folks...thats absolutely I will agree!!!
The combination of ET65 and Reaper HP sounds great for that sounds!!!!
Never before I have had such dynamic range and full musical tonecharacters!!
I don't work for WGS...guys but its very true that WGS Speakers are much more than a copy
of other speakers!! They sound absolutely good when you take the right way!!!
And don't forget boys: Every Speaker should have the chance to break in!!! After then
you hear the real tone of it!!
