I'm looking for a speaker that would ''warm up'' my DRRI and make it more heavy rock friendly. I use mostly normal channel of the amp with my distortion pedals and I kind of would like to hear more British flavor in the sound and get more headroom from the speaker. What would you recommend?
I tried dozens of speakers from a half a dozen different manufacturers in my original 65 Deluxe Reverb, and it was the ET65 that totally delivered what I was looking for! It took away that awful ice-pick and totally smoothed-out the upper-midrange and top end ... and also added a very sumptuous warm bottom end (and who doesn't like that?? :)-. Only problem is that the DRRI has eight mounting studs (unlike the vintage 4) ... and almost all of our speakers use the vintage 4-hole mounting pattern. I have personally herd from several DRRI owners who have drilled the extra four holes themselves, and have been totally pleased with the ET 65 ... but I can only imagine that such a thing would in fact void the generous WGS warranty. So ... it's an "enter at your own risk" thing ... The good news: WGS will begin offering 8-hole speakers in the not-too-distant future!
Daniel or David may jump on here with more info on the 8-hole launch date ...
I would like the Retro 30s in the 8 hole. I just ran into that scenario today. I'm not sure if I want to have to drill holes.
As soon as I get the word myself - I'll be sure to post it here, there, and everywhere!

This sound great, I have no problem to drill four extra holes...but it's probably better to wait for original.
I'll try to get the official word on when we will be offering the 8-hole speakers and post here.
