Well I looked in the search bar, and saw things kind of close to what i was looking for, but I couldn't directly answer my question. Well 1st of all i have a an open back pine cab that has a mix of 2x12's (Eminence GB legends) and 2x10's (Eminence Ragin Cajuns) in a 4x10 size cab 8 OHM mono. I plan on using this cab in conjunction with a new custom Aftershock 4x12 closed back cab (Orange 4x12 size specs). I play many styles of music. Hendrix, Zeppelin, Van Halen, Lynch Mob, GNR, Pearl Jam, SRV, Fingerstyle electric, classical, originals etc, etc.
I play a Suhr Pro Modern Mahogany, H-S-H with a blower switch, also i play a Warmoth S-S-S strat. Well I have a FJA Mods JFD 100. Which is a 100 watt all tube SIR modded Marshall style head. Think Slash Appetite for destruction, George Lynch gain channel. That can do Slipknot as well. Also a Plexi clean channel, think stock 68 Super Lead that can do early EVH.
So i was looking for speaker recommendations for the custom 4x12 Orange cab size specs. I like the idea of mixing speakers. I have owned a single Retro 30 in a JCM 800 combo. So i know it's a good speaker. I also like the way the Invaders, and several others sound. What would be a good combo of speakers for max versatility and tones? Between vintage and modern, clean and distorted, dynamic and complimenting of each other that cleans up with a guitars volume knob, and gets varying levels of hair and bite?. That could also, be used seperately as a stand alone closed back 4x12 at 8 OHM mono without blowing a speaker, on a cranked 100 watt EL-34 powered modded Marshall style amp? Also would you recommend X pattern combo's of speakers, side by side, or top and bottom? Like 2 of the same in which configuration?
Thank you so much,
Marcus

That's actually a VERY good combo in a closed big-box 4x12 ... the Invaders fill in the mid snarl & urgency & the Retros the top sparkle & bottom thump!
Ok awesome, I'll probably do that combo then. I think it would probably be a good mix of vintage and modern tones. Also, the combo would fill in where the other speaker left off. It would be to me, kind of like the upgraded versions of a Greenback and Vintage 30 mix.
Thanks,
Marcus
Yes ... that's EXACTLY what it is!
