After watching Vaughn's videos, I decided to upgrade the Celestion 70/80s in my Crate Palomino V50 212 with the Retro 30/ET65 combo of speakers. Would it be beneficial to add a diffuser to the Retro side, the ET65 side, or both sides? Also is there a preferred side to mount each speaker?

First off: have you installed the speakers yet?  If so, are you diggin on what you've got?  If so, then your done ... just enjoy!  I would definitely not put a diffuser (beam blocker) on the ET65 ... and only on the retro 30 if it's biting a little too much ... but in a 2x12 combo w/the 65, that is never the case ... unless the amp is WAY bitey, or the cab is just too small and/or made of awful materials.

Oh, and in a side-by side 2x12 it doesn't really matter which one is on which side ... unless you have a personal preference ... remember that the Ret 30 will be the more chimey, articulate speaker, and the ET65 will be fat n juicy.
