I have been debating on something very similar to a celestion g10 vintage or something in your line of products. I hear that the G10c is identical in specs and in similar performance. Can somebody help me decide? any links to an audio clip on a side by side comparison of the two would really help me out. Mind ya... i play a bit of rock and moslty like the blues. I play an SG, Jazzmaster and Strat.
Gosh ... I have done several head-to heads with the G10C & the Celestion G10vintage ... and they are not at all the same.
The G10 is more efficient (louder) and has a LOT more bottom end, it also has more clean headroom.
The Peavey Classic 20 is a 15 watt tube amp (EL84 power, 12AX7 pre) with a single 10" speaker (16 ohm load). I own this amp and other small low wattage combos like this. I understand single 10" combos are not the best configuration, however, I would love to know what speaker options you guys would recommend. Ideally, I would like to get more clean headroom out of these little amps. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Hi Jess ... that's an EASY one! The G10C. You won't simply be pleased, you will be flat-out blown away! I could go on forever, but trust me on this one :-)
You won't be disappointed.
Thanks for the quick reply, Vaughn. I appreciate the feedback.
I've been looking to pull the trigger on the Veteran 10", which is rated for 20w. Why would I need the 75w for this 15w amp? I understand higher wattage speakers than amp output is a 'thing' - I have an EV 200w Black Shadow in my MKIV afterall - but wonder what makes this the better recommendation? The sound samples for the Veteran are actually exceptional, especially the clean sound for such a low wattage speaker. Thanks!
