So I think I have a new one for you.

I have an Acoustic 450 head running through 2 custom cabs.

A link to a 450 description: http://acoustic.homeunix.net/twiki/bin/view/Acoustic/GuitarHeadOrBassHead450

One is a Roland C-1238b open back with an Xtant 12" car sub closed, ear firing (yeah I'm a bit odd)

The upper cab has 2 Alphine W-1200 (knockoff 12" labeled as 240W 4 ohm) and a Jenson JCH 10/35 8ohm. Open backed.

Overall I like the sound I'm getting, the 10" distorts wonderfully, though I'm amazed I haven't killed it yet.

My problem is that one of the Alphines is literally falling apart (being held together with c clamps).

I play a variety of metal, grunge and alternative with both a BC Rich virgin with Zakk Wylde 60's and aBD-2 pushing an HM-2 for distortion. My other guitar is a Fender Strat Squire using a Metal Muff.

I guess my question is what should I replace the dying 12" with? I'm pretty sure I have the low end covered so I'll need some good strong mids and decent highs.

Ok, same amp, new question.

Yesterday I lucked into an inexpensive (read free) Fender GE-412, old but stock.

After playing around for a bit it sounds ok for what I'm playing but I really miss that tight overdriven sound out of the Jensen JCH-10/35.  Which 12 would work in its place to help bring this cabinet alive?

Unfortunately I can only afford one speaker at this point in time.

For the first time ever, I think I've just gotta tell ya that I ain't got a clue!  You've got a crazy old SS head that I've never seen or heard firing through a crazy array of car audio/consumer speakers ... I just can't wrap my head around this one enough to make a firm suggestion.  Maybe someone else out there ...

If you stick with JUST the Fender 4x12 ... then I'd say add in Retro 30's one at a time ... but that's at best a bit of a poke in the dark ... Sorry I can't do any better.
