Hi everyone,

I'd wish to setup my 2x12 cab with new speakers. I'm playing a dumble-style amp with 50 watts, the cab now is loaded with two evm 12l, which sounded too stiff and sterile to me. And a bit too boomy. The cab has a semi-open back.

Which speakers do you recommend? Music I play is blues, bluesrock. Bonamassa, Robben Ford, creamy rocksounds with silk and smooths heights, defined low end. Good clean sounds with strat should also be possible.

ET65?

Thanks!

Wow, two EVM 12L's!  How do ya move that thing?  LOL :-)

Best choice: a pair of Blackhawks.

The ET65's would probably be a good choice, too ... but be aware that they will warm the cab quite a bit.

Yeah, two EVM 12L's are a heavy choice.. ;-)

My amp has got 50 watts, but eventually I will get one with 100 watts. Are there tonal differences between a 50 and 100 watt blackhawk?

The main difference is that, by the time you get to a speaker capable of a true 100watts RMS, you are getting into the land of a pretty stiff suspension and a heavy structure, so ... like with your EV's ... you will start to loose the dynamic, touch sensitive response.  Also, two regular Blackhawks can handle 100 watts.
