Hi All,

First post. I play  a Splawn 08 Quickrod and Splawn modded 93 Marshall 1987 head.  Not at the same time but these are my 2 main heads. I am in a 2 guitar that band covers Thin Lizzy, Maiden, Judas Priest, Sabbath....etc

I run them into a Carvin  Legacy 4x12 slanted cabinet.  It's sealed back with front loaded speakers.

I have 2 x 30 watt Reapers on the top and 2 Celestion V30 on the bottom.

The Splawn has a lot of midrange. I like the Reapers and I like to find something stills cuts, is loud but does have as much of that mid-range spike. Even after few hundred hours at stage volume those V30 have not mellowed that midrange spike much.

Another option, is to go to a straight faced cabinet.

Curious to hear what other of you think and have done.

Thanks,

Phil

Helo & welcome!  Great amps.

My recomendation would be Retro 30's, given your looking for somthing that:

"stills cuts, is loud but does [not] have as much of that mid-range spike"

The Retro 30's are Britt voiced, but have a lot more bottom end (especially in the closed box), as well as a little more top end sparkle ... and they do not have the over-cooked mid-spike.

Another good option would be to fully load the cab w/Reapers for a slightly less Brit voiced cab overall.

Hope this helps, post back w/your results :-)
