I just bought a mesa mark iv combo and i was happy with it til i really cranked it up and noticed this ungodly terrible flubby mid bass that i didnt notice before. ive had mesas before and noticed how notorious there black shadows tone sucks, i had a lonestar that suffered the same thing crappy black shadows. i guess they call them that cuz the tone is so one dimensional and dark. my question is how well would the 100 watt blackhawk alnico speaker be for my application? the black shadow is way too flubby sounding for me, i hooked the amp up to my rivera k412 cab and it sounded great and im not even a big fan of vintage 30s. so how would the blackhawk 100 watt alnico speaker compare to the sound of the retro 30, cuz i love the sound of it?
