Hi,

Wondering if anyone can give me some suggestions to replace my ET90. Overall I like the sound, but something in the highs, maybe high mids is torturing my ear. Not sure if the ET65 has a similar spike. Also considering a G12C/S but open to suggestions. Playing through a Quilter tone-block 202. Clean with overdrive from pedals for leads. Reggae, r&b, neo soul, Afro Latin type stuff. Thanks!

You think it's something at the very top end of the mid hump, something in the presence range, perhaps? The 65 definitely is smoother in this region, though perhaps you would have prefered something closer to the out of production BL80 which is mellower overall.

This ear torturing thing... does it happen with drive tones only or even with cleans? In my experience there's always a challenge with H mag drivers in that they tend to give you the full whack, which can be a bit tricky to dial out. Thus M mag drivers is my preference for lead or more heavy gain stuff.

Would the Retro and Veteran be too hard hitting in the mids, you think?
